"Longoria shines on this trumpet spectacular extravaganda!" - Mickey  Landers, Classical Review

"This one brings life to such an old esteemed classic. Longoria's trumpet is a stellar performance for other trumpeters to study" - C. Thomas, Music Eternal

"On 'Celebrate (Sound the Trumpet!),' David Longoria does what he does best: bridge the gap between classical tradition and modern innovation. This single, released on August 27, 2024, sees Longoria tapping into the rich Baroque history of Henry Purcell’s original 'Sound the Trumpet' from 1694. What he delivers, however, is more than just an homage; it’s a bold reimagining that infuses the work with a contemporary spirit, while staying true to its 17th-century roots." - College Radio Charts USA

"The rendition is sophisticated and ambitious, with a truly stunning production value that sets the bar higher. By adding his own trumpet arrangement, Longoria retains the original composition’s integrity while blending it with a fresh, adventurous interpretation. This balance of tradition and innovation is one of the things that make the project particularly engaging and rewarding to listen to." - BandCamp Diaries

"Longoria’s release is a bright burst of Baroque, delivering a message to celebrate the day. The result is a thrilling modern piece, one that is respectful of the original, but also built on a vibrant new energy and style not heard before. Adding an elegant Baroque-styled trumpeting melody, Longoria brings a fresh take to the classic piece, masterfully dancing over the melodies and seamlessly stitching together new elements with gorgeous, operatic voices. It’s a gorgeous and undeniably original release, delivering a fresh and fully-bodied sound that never fails to excite." -  Broken 8 Records  (Australia)

"...a stunning fusion of baroque and modern classical styles, breathing new life into the genre. Longoria, a virtuoso trumpeter, takes on the ambitious task of reinterpreting a classic baroque piece with a fresh approach, and the result is captivating. The track showcases Longoria’s masterful trumpet work, weaving it beautifully with the intricate textures of a string quintet, harpsichord, and church organ. Opera singers Diana Tash and AJ Teshin add an operatic grandeur to the composition, their vocals blending seamlessly with the orchestral backdrop, while The California Chorale’s chorus enriches the overall sound, giving it a majestic and celebratory feel. The piece perfectly balances respect for the original work with a contemporary flair, bringing an energy and complexity to baroque that feels both timeless and fresh.

- Kamil Bobin, The Music Road

"...Celebrate (Sound The Trumpet!) is a captivating journey that seemlessly bridges the past and present. By interpreting Purcell's timeless classic, David has crafted a sonic masterpiece that breathes new life into Baroque tradition while adding his signature flair. This piece isn't just music- it's an experience, one that envelopes listeners in an emotive blend of lush string arrangements and invigorating brass."

-Delvin, Tunepical

Longoria’s trumpet doesn’t just punctuate the music—it tells a story, leading listeners through a rich musical journey full of passion. ...The combination of these powerhouse voices, coupled with Longoria’s distinct trumpet, creates a grand and intimate sound. The high-quality production ensures that every note is crystal clear, allowing listeners to appreciate the intricate layers that make this piece feel cinematic.

-The Hologram

The addition of a featured trumpet reimagines and energizes the piece, adding to the brightness of the ensemble previously created only via the harpsichord. Longoria's performance provides perhaps an even greater 'royal' mood to the melodies, originally intended as a birthday celebration for Queen Mary II.
The interplay among Tash, Teshin, and Longoria is simply delightful, the trumpet dancing in and around the vocal parts. Longoria tastefully allows Tash, Teshin, and the choral ensemble to take the lead during their moments. But as the instrumental counterpoint comes back to him, Longoria delivers a powerful performance that impresses without dominating the entirety of the ensemble.

Trumpeter David Longoria returns with his solo trumpet!  This time, Baroque style, in a brand new classical composition cleverly crossed with an old one.  Masterfully dancing with the traditional elements of Henry Purcell’s Sound The Trumpet from 1694, Mr. Longoria’s skillful trumpeting complements a modern feast of new melodies. This opulent soundscape includes the harpsichord, a pipe organ, a string quintet, and a choir!  And, as if that wasn’t enough, it features the vocal artistry of Mezzo Soprano Diana Tash and Tenor A. J. Teshin!

Diana Tash  is an Internationally revered soloist in recordings, recital, and in concert, as well as performing  operatic roles in the US and abroad.  The Los Angeles Times described her stage performance as "radiant" and The New York Times has called her "skillful".  Ms Tash was originally a Resident Artist with the LA Opera, and then went on to sing both soprano and mezzo roles all over the world.  She returned to Los Angeles in the role of Mercedes in Carmen under Placido Domingo's direction.  Since then she’s appeared in concert and in recital all over the California coastline.  In 2023 Diana released her highly acclaimed solo album "Bach Woman" produced by A.
